Cannes Hotel Guide
Save a Fortune - Rent a Nice Apartment! Check Apartment Availability and PricesChoosing a Cannes hotel is easy, if you have plenty of money: you pick one of the big 3 on the La Croissette: Carlton, Majestic or Martinez. They are all fantastic and you should not be disappointed. Trying to find a cheaper alternative is not so easy - if you are not traveling on a Hollywood Studio's expense account, we would recommend renting an apartment. But if it is a hotel in Cannes you are after our pick is the Moliere. Here's our review of the four Cannes hotels we like best:Hotel Carlton. Tel 04 93 06 40 06. The Carlton is a Cannes sea front icon. The two black domes supposedly modeled on the gypsy courtesan cum flamenco dancer La belle Otero's breasts (!) make this a landmark and a favorite of Film Festival purists. (Though in truth most of the modern day film festival superstars stay nowadays at the Cap Eden Roc on cap d'Antibes). Hotel Martinez. Tel 04 92 98 73 00. Re-opened on 2003 after a massive overhaul, the Martinez has kept its features inspired by the 1920s and 1930s and added masses of modern luxury to this palatial Cannes hotel. Owned by the Tattinger family of champagne fame it boasts fantastic views, a wonderful spa and great restaurant. Hotel Majestic. Tel 04 92 98 77 00. Hugely popular with the movie industry executives, the Majestic offers old style refined luxury. Possibly the best restaurant in Cannes and a "gentleman's club" feeling. Hotel Moliere. On Rue Moliere, Tel 04 93 38 16 16. The Moliere is our budget hotel pick. Provencal styled rooms, little gardens and friendly staff this Cannes hotel make it popular with festival goers who do not have the luxury of huge expense accounts (often journalists).
