Monaco travel Tips - Top 10 Tips on What to See and Do in Monaco
We love Monaco - here are our Monaco travel tips (in no particular order) to make sure you have a fabulous and fun filled time: 1. Stay in Nice and visit Monaco. Although Monaco has 3,000 hotel rooms the are usually so busy with business and congress visitors that they do not offer particularly good value. There are some great Monaco hotels if you can afford them, but for us, Nice offers so many other cultural advantages that we suggest you rent in Nice and hop on the train or bus and visit Monaco (it's less than 12 miles away). 2. Visit the throne room in the Prince's palace. Then walk through to the "place du palais" which overlooks the harbour with a spectacular panoramic view. 3. Watch the changing of the guard. Every day at 11.55am in front of the main palace entrance. 4. Visit the "Grands appartements" within the palace. Enter via the hall of mirrors and see the opulent and luxurious living rooms and bedrooms. 5. Visit the wax museum. In the old town on rue basse, the museum charts the history of the Grimaldi family. 6. Visit the Cathedral. Follow Promenade Sainte-Barbe to the white stone cathedral built in 1875. It contains the tombs of the Princes. 7. Visit the Casino. Monte Carlo's most famous building and "monument" (over 21s with a passport). The terrace and gardens are also worth a stop. 8. Visit the Japanese garden. 7,000 square metres of beauty and tranquillity at the Cafe de Paris - perfect! This is a top Monaco travel tips! 9. Visit the Oceanographic Museum. Opened in 1910 and managed for many years by Jacques Cousteau the museum is an architectural masterpiece. The marine life collection in over 90 tanks (some, like the shark tank, huge!) is world famous. 10. Watch the Formula One Grand Prix. Perhaps one of the more obvious Monaco travel tips - but the grand prix is very special and well worth a visit.
