Old Nice. New Town. Surrounding Old Nice is the new town. This has a very different feel to the Old Town - wide boulevards, stucco apartment buildings, designer shops and all the modern facilities one associates with a large city. The designer shopping is just to the West of the Old Town and most visitors on a Nice vacation tend to hug the 8km (5 mile long) promenade. Nice Hotels. Unsurprisingly, there is a huge choice of hotels. To be honest if you plan to stay in Nice city itself a car is something of a liability. Parking can be difficult and expensive and like most cities the traffic can be rotten.
