Nice Hotel Guide
There are hundreds of hotels in Nice - but how do you choose which Nice hotel is for you? Given the choice, the team at Nice-City-Vacation.com would always choose to rent an apartment in Nice old town (much better value per square metre per person per night!). That said there are times when a hotel better suits your needs. In our opinion it is usually better to pay a little more in Nice. The budget hotel options just aren't up to much (we make one budget Nice hotel recommendation exception at the foot of the page!.) So if your wallet can take it here are our Nice hotel recommendations - you shouldn't be disappointed. Our first choice would be the Nice hotel to top all Nice hotels: Hotel Negresco - sitting like a lavish domed wedding cake on the sea front the Negresco is a Nice icon. Built in 1912, overlooking the famous Bay of Angels, and classified a National Historic Monument in 1974, the Hotel Negresco is one of the few remaining privately owned palaces still existing in the world. Jeanne Augier, owner and chairman, has created a unique living museum. The central atrium is packed with wondrous art treasures and is well worth a visit even if you don't plan to stay there. Throughout the hotel, epic periods in the history of France are represented through the art collection. The decoration of each one of our 121 guestrooms and 24 suites has been inspired by the most outstanding periods of French art and history. Rooms have been individually decorated to reflect styles as different as Louis XIII and art deco. And of course, the most recent technology has not been forgotten and every room is equipped with LCD television sets and ADSL Internet access.Another palace that is now a hotel is Chateau des Ollières (Tel: 0492 157 799). Set in a private park, this Belle Epoque retreat was once the home of Russian prince Lobanov-Rostowsky. Transformed in 1990 into an opulent 9 room hotel, it indulges travelers with marble baths, tapestry-laden walls, and exceptional antiques. The garden becomes a candle-lit Eden at night. Hotel La Pérouse is cut into the hillside of the Colline du Chateau above the Old Town. It is a real oasis of calm and brilliantly located. The hotel maintains the feel of a private residence. Its magical setting overlooks the Mediterranean - a peaceful retreat away from it all, with the city at your feet. This 4 star establishment has been tastefully renovated and offers a sophisticated and relaxed ambiance. Refined Provençal interior design and contemporary comfort give this Nice hotel the feel of luxury. The wonderfully experimental design hotel Hi Hotel is probably the grooviest hotel experience in Nice. This 38 room funky-urban hotel in Nice is located 200 meters from the sea and is the creation of Matali Crasset, France's leading young designer.Bold and innovative, Hi Hotel offers comfortable rooms with design concepts conceived to get guests looking at life in a different way.At its heart beats the happy bar, a space that combines music, images, technology, business and culture. Another Nice hotel worth a visit even if you do not plan to stay. La Malmaison is located on one of the New Towns most famous bourgeois boulevards: Boulevard Victor Hugo. A lovely Boutique Hotel, La Malmaison located in a residential area and while some walk from the Old Town it is in the heart of Nice, and just few minutes from the world famous Promenade des Anglais. La Malmaison offers 46 totally renovated guest rooms: flat tv screen, complimentary wireless access, safety box etc. A recommended relatively budget discount Nice hotel is Les Cigales. Family run 19 room Hotel Les Cigales warmly welcomes its guests in the fascinating setting of a completely refurbished old noble residence (Hôtel Particulier) in the heart of Nice New Town. Guests will appreciate the warm hospitality of the staff, as well as the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of a family run business. Well located for both business and leisure you’ll find the sea and casinos within 150 metres of the hotel.
