Nice Shopping Guide: Cool and Funky Old Town Shops

For a cool arty shopping experience in Nice head for the Old Town. Its narrow streets are packed with small independent boutiques, exotic craft shops, jewelers and galleries.

Nice Old Town is a wonderful maze of little streets each home to small independent retailers, though there are also branches of designer boutiques such as Gaultier and Agnes B near Cours Saleya.. The best way to tackle shopping here is to go with no planned agenda and just wander - serendipity always seems to mean you will stumble across some little gem.

For arty gifts the best streets to concentrate on are Rue Droite, Rue Sainte Reparte and Rue Rossetti - but do adventure down the higgledy piggledy side streets too. Just north of the old town across from Place Garibaldi is the gift shop from the museum of modern art. This has a number of good contemporary designed gift ideas.
